HMC Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

This will be the second year that Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has collaborated with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to organize a healthcare conference in Qatar focused on quality improvement and patient safety.

This partnership saw the successful launch of the first Middle East Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare in May 2013. It played host to over 2500 local and regional delegates who attended workshops and lectures presented by quality improvement experts from the IHI faculty.

Such active participation by delegates demonstrated a tremendous commitment to the delivery of patient care through the sharing and building of knowledge around quality improvement and safety mechanisms. There was also an overwhelming appetite to learn about new best practices, tools and methodologies and to bring about the system improvements that are essential to making a real and sustainable difference to patient care.

The positive feedback received from the impact of the 2013 event has led us to collaborate with the IHI once again to deliver a targeted healthcare forum. This year’s Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare has been organized under IHI’s guiding principle that everyone should be provided with the best care to achieve the best possible health outcome. This ethos has led them to work with partners around the world to share innovations in health and healthcare improvement.

I am delighted that HMC is one of these global partners. Together we can provide a platform for knowledge sharing that will continue to shine a spotlight on the importance of quality and safety and will provide a forum for healthcare professionals to learn from, collaborate with, and be inspired by expert faculty and colleagues from across the globe.

Our vision is to deliver the safest, most effective and compassionate care to our patients. This year’s forum will undoubtedly help us to recognise and identify where and how we can improve to achieve this.

We look forward to sharing our eminent speakers’ views on how innovation in quality and safety can and must be applied to our challenging and evolving sector. We hope to inspire and guide each and every one of you to deliver the healthcare that patients expect to receive from any of us working as healthcare providers; and that we ourselves would want to receive.
