Dr. Mike Jones, MB, ChB, FRCP, FFTM RCPS(Glasg), FISTM
Dr. Mike Jones is an experienced physician specializing in infectious and travel medicine. After graduating from Aberdeen University in 1972, he served as a Specialist Physician at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania (1976–1982). On returning to the UK, he co-founded HealthLink360, providing healthcare for expatriates in developing countries, where he served as Medical Director until 2006 and continues as a Consultant Advisor.
He was instrumental in founding travel clinics at the Edinburgh Regional Infectious Diseases Unit and HealthLink360, alongside nearly 30 years of HIV care. Dr. Jones has lectured internationally on infectious diseases, authored key travel medicine modules, and held leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at RCPS Glasgow (2012–2015).
A founding member of the ISTM, he has contributed extensively to its conferences and served as Secretary-Treasurer since 2019. His humanitarian work includes supporting ART rollout in Zambia and developing travel medicine services in Oman. He continues to shape the field through advocacy, education, and research.
