About ITQAN:
Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center is among the largest and most advanced simulation centers in the world. The state-of-the-art center was purposefully designed to close the knowledge-skill gap through immersive hands-on practice for improved patient safety and quality of care.
Itqan is located at the heart of Qatar’s Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City campus and occupies nearly 12,000m2 of space. The Center offers a high fidelity, but risk-free clinical environment equipped with hundreds of manikins and task trainers that clinicians can use to practice and hone their diagnostic, procedural and decision-making skills.
Itqan is more than a simulation center, it is a catalyst for medical excellence. It combines integration of research and innovation with strategic partnerships to foster an environment where people are empowered to make bold decisions and emerge with transforming solutions.
What is inside the Center?
- Auditorium: Two-tiered modern auditorium with capacity for up to 400 people.
- Café: Indoor and outdoor dining and social space.
- Classrooms: Learning space for up to 88 people with flexibility to create multiple smaller rooms.
- Clinical Skills Labs: Dedicated area for practicing all types of skills using manikins, task trainers and hybrid models.
- Virtual Reality Lab: Advanced lab for practicing skills and decision-making in a virtual environment.
- Debriefing Rooms: Dedicated space in which learners are guided to reflect on performance, communication and teamwork.
- Standardized Patient Rooms: Individual practice and exam rooms for assessment, skills and communication.
- Medical Library: Healthcare library with resources for all disciplines.
- Operating Theaters: Customized environment in which to practice skills, communication and teamwork for Operating Theater and ICU patient care.
- Labor and Delivery Rooms: Customized rooms in which to practice skills, communication and teamwork of mother-baby care.
- Patient Rooms: General rooms designed to enhance care of patients of all ages with any type of condition.
- Control Rooms: Space allowing remote observation and communication by facilitators and manikin operators.
- Central Sterile Services Department: Instrument cleansing and sterilization unit.
- Animal Preparation: An environment for the safe, ethical care of animals used to provide surgical skills learning opportunities.
- Surgical Skills Lab: State-of-the-art surgical lab to hone surgical skills through learning with animals, cadavers and the DaVinci surgical system.
