Dr. Patricia Herron Ghani is a podiatrist specializing in diabetic foot care and is currently the only podiatrist at Al Khor Hospital. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Wichita State University in Kansas. After working in various medical laboratories for 10 years, she returned to studying at Des Moines Medical University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. During her medical training, she was a member of the Phi Delta Honor Society, graduating with honors and winning the 2001 William Stickel Silver Award for Research and Papers in Podiatric Medicine. She then completed residencies in Podiatric Orthopedics and Podiatric Surgery and earned her board in Podiatry Treatment and the Prevention of Foot Wounds and Diabetic Footwear. She worked in Doha as the Head of Podiatric Services and as a consultant in Istanbul and Riyadh.

Dr. Ghani has served on several committees including the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes, the Qatar National Committee for Diabetes, HMC’s Multi-disciplinary team and represented Qatar as a delegate for the International Working Group on Diabetes. She has actively trained healthcare workers in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Turkey in wound care and diabetic foot. Dr. Ghani has conducted research on:
