Dr. Jorge Berlanga Acosta
Head, Cytoprotection and Healing Department, Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Cuba

Dr. Jorge Berlanga Acosta is Head of the Cytoprotection and Healing Department at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB). He is a Guest Researcher at the Wound Healing Division at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He is also a Guest Researcher at the Histopathology Unit of the former Imperial Cancer Research, London, UK.

Dr. Acosta is author and coauthor of more than 85 published scientific articles about wound healing and molecular biology of wound healing mechanisms. He is the first author of patent granted in United States  7,799, 760 B2. “ Use of pharmaceutical composition containing Epidermal Growth factor (EGF) for diabetic foot ulcer amputation prevention” and first author of four other granted patents and three book chapters on wound chronification. He is also a member of the Cuban National Academic of Sciences (Biomedicine council).
