Dr. Mohammed Alhatou has a special interest in neuromuscular diseases. He was the chair of the Department of Neurology at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties from 2002 to 2015 and recently joined Hamad Medical Corporation where he is a Senior Consultant.
Dr. Alhatou is board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography, neuromuscular disorders and neuroimaging. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Tishreen, where he went on to earn his medical degree. He completed his residency in neurology at the University of Virginia and his fellowship in neuromuscular disease and electromyography at Emory University.
Dr. Alhatou has authored multiple publications. He is a primary investigator in multiple drug studies in neuropathy, dementia, stroke and epilepsy. His academic interests include the education of physicians, patients and families.
