Ian Winson
Mr. Winson is a NHS Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery, Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Mr. Winson specializes in foot and ankle surgery and Sports Injuries. He is Vice President Elect of the British Orthopedic Association, Editor JTO and Review Editor European Journal Foot and Ankle Surgery and Past President of the European Foot and Ankle Society and BOFAS.
He is a member of the British Orthopedic Association and of the British and European Foot and Ankle Societies. He is a member of AO Trauma.
Mr. Winson only undertakes medico-legal expert witness work related to foot and ankle problems.
Mr. Winson has continued to publish extensively research and articles on current aspects of orthopedic practice. His research interests include clinical foot and ankle research, biomechanics of the foot, ankle arthritis, ankle arthroscopy, forefoot reconstruction and foot outcome measures. He has published over 50 papers.
Mr. Winson is involved in the systematic critical analysis of his own and his colleagues' standards of medical care as required by the Department of Health. He has constructed a database of over 5,000 cases of foot and ankle surgery. The audit activity his team undertakes looks at all aspects of treatment regimes including those involved in conservative measures, surgical techniques and post-operative care.
As the past Regional Director of Orthopedic Training, Mr. Winson was responsible for the postgraduate Orthopedic Training Program in Avon, Somerset and Gloucestershire. He tutors medical students, physiotherapists and nursing staff. He has served on the British Orthopedic Associations Education Committee, the Education committee of the British Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Education committee of the European foot and Ankle Society. He continues to be a guest speaker on a wide range of courses both nationally and internationally
