Frederic Ris
MD, PD, ESBQ in coloproctology

Frederic Ris, from Switzerland, qualified in 1999 from the Geneva University Medical School in Switzerland. After two years of research, he undertook his clinical training in Switzerland with a year in Belgium (St-Luc Hospitals in Brussels in 2006).

He was then fellow for two years in the Colorectal Department at the Oxford University Hospitals. 

He is an academic surgeon, specialist in general and visceral surgery as well as in coloproctology (European board). He has been awarded an MD and a PD degree for his research and has over 119 publications with an H index of 20.

He is interested in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, pelvic floor surgery and fluorescence imaging.

Dr. Ris is expert in minimally invasive colorectal surgery (IBD and cancer), pelvic floor disorders and oncologic surgery and has developed an exenteration program. He is also responsible for the HIPEC program and one of the founders of the Swiss peritoneal cancer group.

From January 2012, he has been the Head of Colorectal Surgery in the Visceral Surgery Service of Professor Morel at the Geneva University Hospital.
