Dr Mohamed Abdelalaim Ibrahim, is a senior consultant psychiatrist at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha – Qatar. He graduated from University of Khartoum, Sudan – 1976. He obtained his MRCPsych in 1984 after completing his training at the institute of psychiatry and the joint hospitals in London. In 1997 he was granted the FRCPsych. He came to Qatar 1995 and established the psychiatric service at the ministry of interior before moving to Hamad Medical Corporation in 1990.
He held many leading positions including the chairmanship of the department of psychiatry from 1995 until 2006. He chaired the fitness and disability committee at the ministry of health from 1994 until 2005. He work as a member or chair for different committees.
From 2007 until 2011 he was the executive director and program director at the social rehabilitation center (Alawin), which is the first center of its kind in Qatar to be specialized in drugs and other addictive behaviors.
Dr Abdelalaim main interest is in the history of psychiatry, psychiatry and the law with wide experience in forensic psychiatry, OCD and management of treatment - refractory schizophrenia.
