Prof Pamela Taylor, FRCPsych FMedSci, is Cardiff University’s Professor of Forensic Psychiatry and consultant forensic psychiatrist with Cardiff Bay University Health Board. She is currently chairperson of the Forensic Psychiatry Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
In 2016, she was awarded an honorary fellowship by the College and in 2017 made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to forensic psychiatry. She has published over 200 peer reviewed papers, edited books, including the UK’s leading textbook of forensic psychiatry and is lead editor of the journal Criminal Behaviour and Mental Health.
In 1978, Taylor was awarded the Gaskell Medal and Prize by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, it is "one of the foremost academic distinctions in clinical psychiatry". In 1989, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych). In 2004, she was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci).
