Message from the Deputy Chair
The Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Perioperative Medicine is one of the largest and busiest clinical services at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), catering to over 50,000 patients each year. We pride ourselves as being part of an Academic Medical Center that is a national leader in clinical care, education and research. As HMC is expanding its hospitals and services, we at the department of Anesthesiology are committed more than ever to providing outstanding patient care in every discipline, all the while maintaining world-class quality and safety. Our department and its various teams are exemplary in their teamwork as we are one of the only clinical departments at HMC whose staff rotate throughout the corporate hospitals. We are particularly proud of our residency program, which is one of the first programs that has achieved ACGME-I accreditation at HMC, and which continues to give rise to trainees who go on to become clinical leaders wherever they go. Our research activity is robust and distinguished. Finally, we are lucky to be located in Qatar, one of the more beautiful, culturally diverse and innovative parts of the Gulf region. Needless to say, it has recently finished hosting one of the most successful FIFA World Cups in history. You are welcome to learn more about our department.
