Prof. Rao has completed M.S Orthopaedics in KMC Mangalore. He joined department of Orthopaedics in KMC Manipal in 1988. Dr. Rao is the current Dean of Kasturba Medical College Manipal. He is Professor of Orthopaedics and Chief of Adult Reconstruction Unit. He was the head of the department of Orthopaedics from 2009 to 2014.
He has been the past president of Karnataka Orthopaedic Association. He is the immediate past president of Orthopaedic Association of South Indian States (OASIS) and the immediate past Chairman of AO Trauma India.
Dr. Rao has given more than 50 guest lectures as faculty in various international conferences in Asia Pacific, Europe, South Africa and USA. He has been an international faculty for AO Trauma and has more than 100 Research publications in indexed journals.
His special interests in knee and hip surgery include joint replacement, trauma and arthroscopy.
