Dr Arturo Vilches Moraga is a senior consultant geriatrician and physician with an interest in perioperative care of older people and medical education, who joined Hamad Medical Corporation in August 2023.
Arturo attained MBBS in 1993, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He then trained in the United Kingdom and completed a diploma in Geriatric Medicine 1999, Membership Royal College of Physicians 2001, Specialist training (CCST) in General Internal and Geriatric Medicine in 2005, and MSc in Geriatric Medicine in 2007. He was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2016, and awarded an MBE in 2023 for services to older patients.
Extensive research and publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters in an array of topics relating to older adults: Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, heart failure, thromboembolic disease, falls and syncope, delirium, COVID-19, frailty, safe handover of information, and bedside point of care ultrasound (POCUS).
Dr Vilches Moraga has held various board positions for European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS), Centre for Excellence in Safety of Older People (CESOP), and Middle East Academy of Ageing (MEAMA).
