Dr. Sanjeevikumar Meenakshisundaram has over 20 years of experience in General Internal, Stroke and Geriatric medicine. He joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 2019 as a Senior Consultant Physician and Geriatrician in the Department of Geriatrics and Long-Term Care. He is the Assistant Chair of Acute Care Services in Geriatrics, Chair of the CPG in Rumailah Hospital and Clinical Lead of the Elderly Day Care Unit in Rumailah Hospital, which provides urgent care for people aged 60 and over.

Dr. Meenakshisundaram obtained his MRCP in 1999 and DGM (Diploma) from the Royal College of Physicians in Glasgow. He was awarded his FRCP in 2011 (Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians, London) for services in the field of medicine.

He completed his higher specialist training in 2008 and gained a consultant job in the Northwest England in a reputable trust. His first leadership role there saw him successfully initiating and completing an enhanced Acute Medicine Unit well ahead of the proposed time with the support of the board. His next post was in the teaching hospital affiliated to Liverpool University to do Stroke and Neurovascular clinics.  He led the stroke services for the trust and was an active member of the Trust board's clinical strategy group, which included a focus on informatics. He was an active member in the Board's end of life care strategy group and supported the implementation of the amber care bundle project in clinical areas. He also oversaw the hospital obtain 24/7 primary unit for hyper acute care for stroke.

Dr. Meenakshisundaram was a member of the SPAF Committee for the regional stroke and cardiac network. He is a strong advocate of professional development and education and was previously honorary clinical recognized teacher in Liverpool Medical University, where he contributed to medical graduate education.  At HMC he is part of the Geriatric Program Faculty helping to train Medical Residents and Fellows. He also supports nursing education in Geriatric and Stroke practices.
