Hamad General Hospital

Dr. Hassan Al Thani is the Head of Trauma and Vascular Surgery Sections of Hamad General Hospital, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his surgical training in both Qatar and Canada.
 
He completed his training in trauma and vascular surgery at McMaster University Health Sciences, Canada. In 2004, after completion of his training, he joined Hamad General Hospital as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Surgery.  In the same year, he established the Vascular Surgery Section.

Dr. Al Thani was involved in a number of administrative duties which included Board Member of Hamad Medical Corporation from 2006 - 2008, Chairman of the Organ Transplant Committee from 2008-2009, Board Member of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar from 2008 – 2012. He is Executive Board Member of the Gulf Vascular Society from 2007, President of the Gulf Vascular Society from 2009 and Board Member of Qatar Medical College and Chair of ATLS Chapter.



Dr. Maryam Alsulaiti
Consultant, General Surgery, HGH

Dr. Maryam Alsulaiti, MD is a Consultant in General Surgery, Hamad General Hospital. She graduated from the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain in 2002 and completed her postgraduate in Qatar.

Dr. Al Sulaiti is a member of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and has a special interest in Minimally Invasive and Endocrine Surgery.




Susy John Parekadavil, RN RM
Vascular Surgical Technologist, Operating Room, Hamad General Hospital

Ms. Susy John is the Vascular Surgical Technologist of Operating Rooms at Hamad General Hospital. In 1980, she completed her ‘General Nursing integrated with Midwifery’ course from Orthodox Medical Mission Hospital, Kerala. Between 1986-1998, she worked as Supervisor in both Cardiothoracic-Vascular OT and CSSD at Madras Medical Mission Hospital - Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases, where she was awarded the ‘Best Administrative Nurse’ in 1992. During this period, she received her certification on ‘Management for Nursing Administration’ and completed her ‘Cardiothoracic and Vascular Nursing’ training.
  
Ms. Susy joined the HMC Operation Theatre with the cardiac team in 2002. In 2004, when Dr. Hassan Al Thani established the Vascular Surgery section, she joined his team and has since been working with the Vascular Surgery Department, assisting surgeons in several critical cases. Additionally, she manages the overall running of vascular surgeries and the purchase and replacement of equipment.




Ms. Valsa Koshy
Chief Vascular Coordinator, HGH

This enthusiastic, hardworking and competent healthcare professional earned her Nursing Certificate in March 1981 conducted by the Punjab Nurses Registration Council. She worked as a registered Nurse in Sirganga Ram Hospital in 1981.And then she decided to worked in Saudi Arabia in 1982 also as a registered nurse and supervisor in Gizan Saudi Arabia. She joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 1992 and worked as a registered nurse in the Dialysis Unit. Because of her dedication and competency, she joined the Vascular Surgery Department and worked as a Vascular access coordinator from 2003 until 2013. 

Ms. Koshy is responsible for all satellite dialysis units in Qatar such as Al Khor, Al Wakra, Al Shamal, Al Shahaniya,Al Wakra Dialysis Unit, FBJ, Nephrology Clinic and the Low Clearance Clinic. She also coordinates with the Radiology Department for all relevant procedures. She was promoted as the Chief Vascular Coordinator in 2014 and is responsible for continuously assessing and coordinating the needs of dialysis and vascular patients.
