Dr. Rafael Consunji

Dr. Rafael Consunji is a Consultant and the Director of the Hamad Injury Prevention Program. He is a graduate of the College of Medicine and the General Surgery Program of the University of the Philippines, Manila, Philippines. He is also a graduate of the Fellowship Program in Surgical Critical Care at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has a Masters in Public Health [MPH] degree, with an additional Certificate in Injury Prevention and Control, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Dr. Consunji has more than a decade of experience functioning as a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Trauma Surgeon. He is also the Founding Chair of the Study Group for Injury Prevention and Control at the University of the Philippines. He founded and managed a national non-profit organization focused on preventing unintentional injuries in children [SAFE KIDS Philippines]. He has also managed and directed community-based road safety projects for children in China and South Korea.
