Ruben Peralta is the Professor, Senior Consultant and the Director of the HMC Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship Program. Trained at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, he is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Surgery-Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of several prestigious medical and surgical scientific societies.
Dr. Peralta has extensive experience in the areas of trauma and complex surgery, emergency, disaster medicine and critical care medicine. Dr. Peralta’s specialties include management of highly complex critically ill and injured patients, minimally invasive surgery, general and emergency surgery, disaster medicine, critical care medicine, equal access to healthcare, injury prevention, and minority recruitment into the health professions, cross-cultural medicine and medical education.
Dr. Peralta has authored or co-authored over 250 medical publications and book chapters addressing a broad range of surgical topics. As an Academic Surgeon and scientific researcher, Dr. Peralta has been awarded more than US$ 2 Million in competitive research grants. As an educator, he has lead the Trauma, Emergency and Critical Fellowship Program, an advanced medical education and training program of more than 42 physicians in trauma surgery, emergency and critical care medicine in the Middle East region alone. He is a professor of surgery, anesthesia, critical care medicine, emergency medicine and global health.
