Dr. Ruben Peralta is a Senior Consultant and the Director of the HMC Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship Program. Trained at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, he is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both surgery and critical care medicine. Dr. Peralta has extensive experience in the areas of trauma surgery, complex surgery, emergency surgery and critical care medicine.
Dr. Peralta’s specialties include management of highly complex critically ill and injured patients, minimally invasive surgery, general surgery, equal access to healthcare, injury prevention, minority recruitment into the health professions, cross-cultural medicine and medical education. Dr. Peralta has authored or co-authored over 250 medical publications and book chapters addressing a broad range of surgical topics. He is a professor of surgery, anesthesia, critical care medicine, emergency medicine and global health.
