Dr. Jameela Al Ajmi

Executive Director Corporate Infection Prevention a​nd Control, Senior Consultant, IHI Fellow, Hamad Medical Corporation

Dr Jameela Alkhowaiter Al-Ajmi is senior consultant in adult infectious diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Assistant Professor in Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar (WCMC-Q).

Dr. Aljmi earned her Arab board specialization in internal medicine in 2002 and went on to do her clinical attachment at Wayne University, Michigan / MD-Anderson Cancer Center, Texas. She completed her post graduate certificate in infectious disease at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London and re-certified board in infection control in 2016. She was appointed as executive director of corporate infection prevention and control program in 2015. She has served on many committees including the prevention and control of infection committee at corporate level, head of out-break committee, chairman of water safety, infection control polices committees and member of the national committee of weapon prohibition. Dr .Jameela did a fellowship at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement in patient safety from 2013 to 2014 and she is a Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt certified in patient safety and quality.

Dr. Al-Ajmi has made a great contribution to the corporate training program for infection control and prevention at HMC and was selected to be the Director of the infection control course with George Washington University and Medical Training Center - HMC and a speaker in different workshops and conferences. She is teaching quality improvement modules for the public health master’s degree student at the University of Qatar.

Dr. Al-Ajmi has been involved in many quality improvement projects to promote patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections, such as corona virus, Ebola and tuberculosis. She had consistently displayed a remarkable ability to cope up with different areas, like overseeing the clinical microsystems coaching program and coaching the improvement project team, aiming to reduce central line associated blood stream infections

Dr. Al-Ajmi is particularly interested on issues relating to general infectious diseases, infection control and clinical risk management. Her works have been published in a variety of medical publications in different national and international journals.
