Dr. Ali Sultan
Associate Professor in the Microbiology & Immunology department at Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar (WCM-Q)

Dr. Ali Sultan is an Associate Professor in the Microbiology & Immunology department at Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar (WCM-Q).

He obtained his medical degree from the University of Khartoum-Sudan, and he completed his Ph.D. studies in Microbial Genetics at the University of Edinburgh, UK. 

Dr. Sultan is an infectious disease clinician scientist, trained at New York University and Harvard University and has numerous publications in the field of infectious diseases, including publications in top journals like Nature and Cell among others. He has received funding from many agencies including NIH, Qatar National Research Foundation, Howard Hughes and Ellison Medical Foundation.

Dr. Sultan is an expert microbiologist and molecular biologist and his lab works on the molecular pathogenesis and epidemiology of numerous infectious agents including food borne pathogens (E. coli, Salmonella), Human Papilloma virus, Plasmodium and Toxoplasma. His research has been supported by more than $6.5 M in research grants from the Qatar National Research Foundation (QNRF) alone.
