HMC is affiliated with the Open Medical Institute in Salzburg, Austria. The OMI was established in 2005 by the American Austrian Foundation, The Open Society Foundations and the Austrian Ministry of Science and Education to unite all programs - Salzburg Medical Seminars, Medical Observerships, Satellite Symposia and Visiting Professorships - under one name.

The Salzburg Medical Seminar Program was established in 1993 and is a postgraduate medical education program founded by the American Austrian Foundation and physicians from Weill Medical College, Cornell University to bridge the knowledge gap between East and West, North and South.

HMC has already conducted two satellite symposia in Doha in partnership with OMI and AAF. The first symposium was held from May 4-6 2012 and focused on diabetes. The second symposium held from March 23-26 2013 and focused on urology (bladder and prostate cancers).

HMC also offers the opportunity for best performing residents and fellows to attend international clinical courses as an acknowledgment of their achievement and as an incentive to continue to excel.

Nominations are based on the recommendations of the respective program directors. HMC normally offers partial sponsorship to residents and fellows attending OMI courses.
