  1. Who can apply for HMC Medical Internship Program?

Application is permitted for anyone who has met all the listed eligibility criteria.

  1. I am a graduate of nursing/pharmacy/biomedical science/ (any non-medical discipline). May I join the HMC Medical Internship Program?

The HMC Medical Internship Program is exclusively for medical school graduates. For information about non-medical internship opportunities available at HMC, please contact the Nesmaak Customer Service Team at Nesmaak@hamad.qa.

  1. I have not completed the mandatory clinical or English language proficiency examinations, or I expect that my score will arrive after the intake deadline. Am I eligible to apply?

Applicants must have completed the mandatory exams and be able to include evidence of achieving the required minimum score in their application, prior to the intake deadline. Failure to include this will deem the application incomplete and it will not be considered in the selection process.

Applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the timeline for receiving test results for required clinical skills and English language competency exams.

In addition:

  • Clinical exams: HMC will only accept results from the USMLE, IFOM, and MCC examinations for application to our residency programs. We do not accept clinical exams other than those listed above.
  • English language proficiency exams: Living in a country or holding citizenship of a country where English is the official language, or studying at a medical school where English is the language of instruction, does not exempt an applicant from the exam requirement.
  • Exam results must be valid at the time of application (e.g. verifiable on the examination website). Expired results will not be considered valid. If your results will expire prior to the program start, you should contact our office for early verification of your certificate.
  1. Do I need to be an Arabic speaker to apply?

No, HMC’s language of business is English and the training in the HMC Medical Internship Program is conducted exclusively in English.
  1. What happens after I apply?
  • All applications are reviewed by the Medical Education Department against the listed eligibility criteria.
  • Priority of selection will be based on clinical exam scores (first criteria) and English language proficiency exam scores (second criteria).
  • The results of the selection process will be announced following approval by the Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
  • Selected candidates will be notified by email and sent Conditional Acceptance through the online application system.
  • Waitlisted candidates will be notified of their WL status by email and may be contacted in the event that a space becomes available.
  • Selected candidates will receive information regarding onboarding arrangements, to be completed in the month prior to the program start.
  1. What are the salary and benefits provided to Interns

Non-Qataris will join the medical internship program as non-employees and will not be paid any remuneration, nor will they be sponsored by HMC. Qataris will be hired as employees and provided with remuneration (salary and benefits to be confirmed upon request).
  1. I have met the minimum eligibility requirements to apply. Am I guaranteed a seat?

No. We typically receive more applications than the number of seats available. Meeting the minimum criteria only allows your application to be considered but does not guarantee selection. Admission to the HMC Medical Internship Program is considered competitive.
