Program Overview

Nephrology Fellowship Program is 3 years and focuses on advanced education in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases. Fellows gain hands-on experience in various settings, such as inpatient care, outpatient clinics, dialysis units, and transplant. Our fellows focus on diagnosis and management of conditions like chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The first year is devoted to intensive clinical training, while subsequent years provide opportunities for research, specialized care, and teaching.

The program includes key areas such as dialysis, where fellows learn to manage patients requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, and transplantation, focusing on pre- and post-kidney transplant care. Fellows also engage in research develop their academic skills. Teaching opportunities allow fellows to mentor medical students and residents, further developing their leadership and communication skills.

Upon completion, nephrology fellows are eligible to sit for Arab Board certification in nephrology and can pursue careers in academic institutions, hospitals, dialysis centers, or private practice. The fellowship program provides comprehensive training, equipping fellows with the knowledge and expertise to manage complex kidney-related conditions and contribute to the field of nephrology through research and clinical practice.
