Program Overview
The Transitional Year (TY) Program is a 12-month rotating program designed to offer a well-rounded experience in multiple clinical disciplines, helping residents choose and prepare for a specific specialty. Developed to meet ACGME International accreditation standards, the program ensures that TY residents follow the same training guidelines as other residency programs in terms of supervision, assessment, and policies.
The mission of the program is to provide a comprehensive educational experience in medical practice, clinical judgment, surgical techniques, and professional development. The goal is to prepare residents for specialty training, fostering competency and independence. The program is structured to allow residents to develop the six ACGME competencies through a supervised curriculum that includes various rotations with specific goals and responsibilities, ensuring continuous quality improvement and opportunities for scholarly activities.
