On arrival at the hospital, visitors should go to Reception at the main entrance, the Security desk or the Admitting department. It is not necessary to contact the hospital ward first before planning a visit to see a patient.

Visitor numbers

In general, patients may have two or three visitors at a time but this number is dependent on the health and circumstances of individual patients. For the Intensive Care Unit, only one visitor at a time is permitted.

Patient safety

You should not visit the hospital if you have an active infection and/or symptoms of active infection, or have a communicable disease.

Gifts

Food brought in from home is highly discouraged unless directed by a physician or dietitian. We also advise patients not to bring gifts made of glass, hazardous materials or materials which may compromise patient and staff safety into the hospital. Carpets of any size, electrical items, incense or aloes, charcoal burners, cameras of any kind, pet animals and birds are also prohibited.

Parking

There is ample free parking available to outpatients, as well as for their visitors. Car parking is located adjacent to the Outpatient Department and Emergency Department. A valet service is not available.

Smoking restrictions

As per Qatar Law, smoking is prohibited in all public areas including all HMC grounds. All hospitals within HMC are smoke free. This smoking restriction extends to all staff, patients and visitors. Any person(s) smoking in the hospital or on hospital grounds will be asked by security to immediately cease smoking and a fine may be issued.
