Coming for a Clinic Appointment at the Child Development Center ( CDC)

 
Before Your Appointment
Patients will not be seen as an outpatient at the hospital without an appointment. Outpatient appointments can be arranged by:
  • Calling the registration desk of the Child Development Center (CDC) at  44397061, 40256336 OR Secretary at 40256360
  • Contacting us via email: childrehab-daycare@hamad.qa
  • Visiting the registration desk at the entrance of the Child Development Center and providing the details of the referral to the clerks at the registration desk.
The clerks at the registration desk of CDC will then provide you with the nearest appointment date for consultation with a Child Development Center physician.
 
Be on time for you appointment
Please be on time. Allow lots of time to get to the hospital. It can take some time to get used to finding your way around and it is important to be on time for your child’s appointment. Staff will try to see your child as close to your appointment time as possible. Please understand that some patients being seen ahead of you may need more time than expected, and this can cause delay for others.
 
Bring the following
  • Your child’s valid health card.
  • Your and your child’s Passport/ Qatar ID copies.
  • If you are being referred to HMC from an outside agency, then you need to bring a referral from the private hospital/ center from where you were undergoing treatment.
  • Appointment confirmation note from the CDC registration desk provided to you earlier while booking your appointment.
  • Fees ( For non-Qatari patients )
  • You should also bring all your medical documents, list of known medical allergies and prescriptions (in their original containers ).
Sometimes there is a wait. Remember to bring toys, books, diapers and your child’s food to keep your child comfortable and occupied.
 
Check in first
Register for your appointment at the registration desk of the Child Development Center. Arrive early so you have enough time to register. Staff in registration desk will direct to the clinic waiting area following registration.
 
Keep your hands germ free
Please wash your hands when you enter and leave the hospital, and before and after you visit, feed or provide care for your child. Alternately you may use the alcohol hand sanitizer available at all hospital corridors to keep your hands clean and reduce the risk of getting infections.
 
If you or your child are sick before your appointment
Call the registration desk of the CDC if you or your child has had a cold, cough, diarrhea, fever or rash within two days of your appointment, or have been sick with or exposed to chicken pox in the last three weeks. Your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
 
Tell the nurse or your doctor if your child has been in a hospital outside of Qatar within the last 12 months.
 
If you need to cancel an appointment
If you cannot come to your child’s appointment, it is important that you call the Reception desk at CDC as soon as possible to cancel and reschedule your appointment. This will allow us to schedule another child who needs to be seen.
 
Try not to bring other children to the appointment
If other children must come, please ensure that either parent or a caretaker is attending to them.
Facilities available for children and families
  • While waiting for your appointment, Children can play at the free-play area at the CDC atrium provided that they are under your monitoring. Care must be taken to keep the noise level down to the minimum, while your child engages in play as the surrounding areas comprise of clinical settings where other children and families are undergoing therapy/ treatment.
  • The hospital also offers free wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) and TV access for all families and visitors.
  • Snacks and refreshments are available at the Heart hospital canteen, Rumailah Hospital café and Al Amal Hospital café, all situated adjacent to the Child Development Center.
Separate Prayer rooms for males and females are available in the Heart Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, and Rumailah Hospital. You may talk to the staff present at the reception desk of these hospitals, who will direct you appropriately.
 
Information regarding other services available at the Child Development Center
  • You may ask the clerks at the reception desk for more information regarding the other services available in CDC.
  • Pamphlets regarding different services within Child Development and Rehabilitation services are available at the reception desk. You may take them for gaining information regarding a program/service.

Things to be Done After Your Appointment
After your appointment, you need to visit the registration desk at the CDC and speak to the clerks, who will provide you with date and timing for your child’s follow up appointment. You will also be provided with any medication you need before you leave the hospital. Prescriptions can be collected from the hospital pharmacy immediately on departure.

Visiting the pharmacy

Pharmacy opening times: 7am to 5pm Sunday to Thursday
                                          7am to 1pm Saturday only (outpatient pharmacy)
 
To collect an item from the pharmacy, you need to present your child’s valid health card at the pharmacy registration desk. You will be provided with a token number, which needs to be provided to at the cashier desk to identify your payment. You may collect your child’s medication from the pharmacy counter by providing the payment receipt. The pharmacy team will also provide you with information on how you should use your medicine.
 
Billing and payment procedures for outpatient appointments:
You have the option to pay by credit, debit or eCASH card (which can be obtained from some QNB branches) when attending appointments, to pay for some services.
