    11–12 November 2024

The Communicable Disease Center (CDC) held its Person-Centered Care (PCC) Roadshow on 11–12 November 2024, from 9 AM to 2 PM, at the Inpatient and Outpatient departments. This event was hosted in collaboration with the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) as a dynamic celebration of CDC’s commitment to PCC and its remarkable achievements in person-centered care.

The Opening Ceremony officially commenced with a ribbon-cutting led by a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), and joined by Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, CDC’s CEO and Medical Director, together with Mr. Nasser Al Naimi, HMC’s Chief of Patient Experience and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute. During the ceremony, an insightful overview of CDC's PCC journey was presented by Mr. Awad Amayrh, Risk and Quality Improvement Manager, highlighting CDC’s accomplishment of attaining the highest score of 99% in achieving the Gold Certification for Excellence in PCC back in 2021. This accomplishment reflects the team’s dedication to improving patient experiences and setting a high standard for person-centered care.

Dr. Muna Al Maslamani expressed her gratitude to all participants, especially the HMC leaders and PCC champions from various facilities, for their presence and support. She also extended special thanks to CPESE for their continuous guidance throughout CDC’s PCC journey, as well as to the PFAC, who played an essential role in shaping and maintaining PCC practices at CDC. Reflecting on CDC’s commitment to PCC, Dr. Muna stated, “The PCC Program at CDC is aligned with HMC's strategic goals, extending to patients, staff, and community engagement. Our PFAC members help us ensure that we consistently uphold the best practices in PCC.”

Mr. Nasser Al Naimi shared his insights on CDC’s accomplishment, stating, “Achieving Gold Certification with an outstanding score was a major milestone for CDC, and they are now preparing for recertification in the coming weeks. Their commitment to delivering person-centered care to patients, families, staff, and the community shows CDC’s dedication to excellence in patient experience.”

The ceremony itself embodied a person-centered approach, honoring both CDC staff and PFAC members. Long-serving staff with over 30 years of dedication to HMC were awarded the “Service Excellence Award” in recognition of their commitment. Furthermore, PFAC members were presented with trophies to acknowledge their vital role in supporting CDC’s PCC journey and their contributions to developing PCC initiatives. CDC’s PCC Champions— staff who played a key role in supporting the PCC Certification—were also recognized with certificates, reflecting their efforts in fostering a culture of person-centered care at CDC.

This impactful event at CDC demonstrates the value of applying the PCC principles and strengthening partnerships between patients, families, and healthcare professionals in building a person-centered environment rooted in empathy, compassion, and collaboration.
