Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) - based at Hamad General Hospital
As Qatar’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, the TICU provides specialised critical care for adult trauma patients with multiple injuries including complex fractures, chest and abdominal trauma, head and spinal injuries and unstable hemodynamic conditions.

Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) – based at Hamad General Hospital
The MICU delivers expert critical care for patients aged 14 and above with acute, non-surgical, life-threatening medical conditions. It supports complex cases such as severe respiratory failure, septic shock and multisystem organ dysfunction. MICU provides multidisciplinary care to severely ill patients who require close continuous monitoring and advanced support including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and renal replacement therapy.

The SICU cares for critically ill post-operative and surgical patients. It specialises in managing high-risk surgical cases, post-operative complications, major abdominal and vascular surgeries and patients requiring advanced life support following surgical interventions.
Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Care Unit (CTICU and CCU) – based at the Heart Hospital
The CTICU and CCU deliver advanced care for patients undergoing major cardiothoracic procedures and those with acute cardiac conditions such as myocardial infarction, severe arrhythmias and decompensated heart failure. The units employ cutting-edge technology and practices in cardiac critical care and post-operative recovery.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – based at Women’s Wellness and Research Center
The NICU offers high-level care for premature and critically ill newborns. It supports neonates with respiratory distress, congenital anomalies and those requiring advanced life support, including mechanical ventilation and therapeutic hypothermia.
Pediatric Critical Care at HMC
HMC provides specialist Pediatric Critical Care services for infants, children and adolescents with life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) within HMC are equipped with advanced monitoring systems and life support technologies, offering expert management of complex cases such as respiratory failure, sepsis, neurological emergencies and post-operative recovery.
These units are staffed by highly trained paediatric intensivists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists and allied health professionals. Pediatric critical care at HMC emphasises multidisciplinary, evidence-based care with a strong focus on patient safety, clinical excellence and family-centred support.
