Emergency Medical Care Services in Qatar
HMC Ambulance Service
HMC’s Ambulance Service provides emergency medical care across Qatar 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ambulance crews respond to patients experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies and begin assessment and treatment at the scene before transporting patients to the most appropriate hospital when required.
The Ambulance Service should only be used for serious or life-threatening emergencies. People with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions should make their own way to an appropriate healthcare facility whenever it is safe to do so.
Reducing the number of 999 calls for non-life-threatening conditions helps ensure HMC’s Ambulance Service remains available to respond quickly and effectively to the most critical patients.
How to call an Ambulance
In a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
When speaking to the operator:
- Speak clearly.
- Tell the operator your name and telephone number.
- Explain the nature of the emergency.
- Provide the exact location.
- Answer all questions.
- Follow the operator’s instructions carefully.
When a member of the public calls 999, trained dispatchers ask a series of questions to assess the patient's condition and determine the most appropriate response. If the situation is not considered a medical emergency, callers may be advised to seek care at an urgent care facility.
