Mental health issues are a significant cause of employee absenteeism, lower productivity rates and hence higher costs. Companies and employees can work together to raise the overall mental health and wellbeing of staff to benefit everyone.

Mental health is integral to how we feel about ourselves and therefore has an impact on how well we perform at work and how well we interact with colleagues, customers and clients. There is a strong relationship between levels of staff wellbeing and their motivation and performance.

Taking a positive, proactive approach to promoting good mental health and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness- in the workplace can help employers develop more inclusive and effective organizations. On average there are 1 in 6 employees experiencing mental health problems, making this a significant business concern.
