Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) flagship quality improvement conference for healthcare professionals, the Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, boasted record submissions of quality improvement posters to its competition.
The increasingly popular competition had nearly 400 submissions of posters outlining quality improvement projects from Qatar and the region. 261 posters were assessed by an international panel of judges who warranted their inclusion in the competition and exhibition. The competition also invited conference delegates to submit their own votes for the poster they rated most highly, with the public choice award eliciting over 5000 votes in one day.
“It is wonderful to see over 3700 people, mainly doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, coming together at the Middle East Forum to celebrate best practice, share ideas and learn from each other,” said Dr Abdullatif Al-Khal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Co-Chair of the Middle East Forum.
Winners and runners up were awarded certificates in a ceremony on the final day of the conference. Improvement initiatives were peer-reviewed by over 30 expert judges who were looking for innovative and practical initiatives that demonstrated effective implementation of best-practice quality improvement principles.
“This quality improvement poster competition represents a perfect opportunity for healthcare professionals to showcase their superb efforts and achievement. There was an amazing energy and excitement among the nearly 1000 poster authors from around the world who were involved in these initiatives and every one of them is a winner because they have taken the time and effort to try and introduce quality improvements that will benefit their patients,” Dr Al-Khal added.
