The Cardiac Occupational Therapy (OT) team from the Heart Hospital led by their OT Supervisor, Mr. Menandro Mahinay, last week celebrated World Occupational Therapy Day last by conducting a health promotion interactive workshop for drivers entitled: “Driving Towards a Healthy Heart.”

Drivers from different companies with accommodation at Asian City residences were targeted for the workshop due to the fact that significant number of patients referred to Heart Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase 1 program and OT services are drivers.
To align with the theme of World Occupational Therapy Day 2023 “Unity Through Community”, the Occupational Therapy team from Cardiac Rehabilitation went out to the community and educated drivers about occupational therapy and primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Interactive brainstorming session on the effect and management of modifiable risk factors such as physical inactivity, psychosocial well-being and smoking were part of the presentations to give participants good insights and knowledge about a heart healthy lifestyle. A total of 55 participants attended and benefited from the workshop held at the Asian City.

The event was held in coordination with Heart Hospital administration, Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, Occupational Therapy Department and NAAS Holding Group of Asian City.
