In celebration of World Physiotherapy Day 2024, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Team of Heart Hospital hosted a series of events to raise awareness about low back pain and highlight the critical role of physiotherapists in managing and preventing this common condition. The celebration, which kicked off on 1 September 2024, featured a range of activities designed to engage both staff and the public.
The event was supported by the leadership of Heart Hospital, including Dr. Nidal Ahmad Asaad, CEO & Medical Director; Mohammed Al Neama, Executive Director; and Dr. Mohammed Abdulla Al-Hashemi, Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation.
The Physiotherapy Team, led by Mr. Prasobh Jacob, organized a series of events aimed at raising awareness and promoting healthy practices to prevent low back pain. These activities highlighted the vital role of physiotherapists in enhancing overall health and well-being.

Step Challenge: To promote physical activity, a step challenge was organized in collaboration with Heart Hospital Person Centered Care for staff. The enthusiasm was remarkable, with 60 staff members participating in the challenge. The top five winners were Mr. Alfata Hussein, Mr. Clint Villanueva, Mr. Naveen Selvaraj, Mr. Dieaeldin Mohamed, and Senthil Gowrimani.

Hospital Lobby Booth: A dedicated booth in the Heart Hospital lobby on 8th September 2024 served as a focal point for raising awareness about low back pain. The booth showcased the essential role of physiotherapists in both prevention and management, attracting significant interest from both the public and hospital staff.

Strengthen the Muscles – Prevent Injuries: This program featured demonstrations of strengthening exercises tailored to address the unique challenges faced by our work environment. The session provided practical tips and exercises to help staff prevent injuries.

Prevention is Better than Cure: An online presentation will be conducted for cardiac rehabilitation staff, focusing on low back pain prevention strategies and practical advice for managing and avoiding this condition.
The event was well attended by both the public and staff, with notable participation from Ms. Noora Al Mudehki, Assistant Executive Director for Clinical Services, Physiotherapy; Dr. Theodoros Papasavvas, Program Manager, Cardiac Rehabilitation; and Mr. Daniel Martinez Bussion, Coordinator, Cardiac Rehabilitation.
