In celebration of the National Sports Day, Heart Hospital (HH), in collaboration with Cardiac Rehabilitation Department and Social Services, held its 2nd Sports and Family day last Thursday, 15 February 2024, at HH’s OPD and outdoor green area. The Sports and Family day, also known as Outdoor/Indoor Sports and Staff and Patients’ Day, was participated by HH staff, hospital leaders, patients with their families, and members of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), with the aim of highlighting and reflecting the principles of Person-Centered Care (PCC).
The Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) has been mentoring several HMC facilities, one of which was HH, on its journey to achieving the PCC certification from Planetree International. The Outdoor/Indoor Sports and Staff and Patients’ Day, which was initiated by Heart Hospital, promotes and practices staff engagement as one of the drivers towards PCC certification. In collaboration with CPESE, the hospital CEO and Medical Director, Dr. Nidal Ahmad Asaad, chaired this event, together with all the PCC leaders at HH.
Complimentary drinks and fresh apples were served to all the attendees. It was a day of fun-filled activities, including both indoor and outdoor games, football, pulling robe, volleyball, etc. All kids and adults who actively participated and won the games were awarded with prizes, including caps, mugs and pens. During the event, one of the patients celebrated his birthday, together with his family members and HH staff. Everyone was engaged, expressing their positive feedback about HH’s Sports and Family Day. The success of this event has led the hospital administration to consider organizing a similar event to be conducted on an annual basis.
