The hospital has an in-house pharmacy which operates 24 hours a day and is staffed by highly qualified experienced pharmacists who take care of all inpatient and outpatient needs at any time of day. The well-stocked pharmacy offers medicines via trained pharmacists who are available to take care of patient needs and answer queries.
The pharmacy attends to approximately 4,000 outpatients, 1,800 inpatients and 600 day care unit patients per month. We work closely with other medical departments within the National Center Cancer Care and Research, including oncology, hematology, nursing and radiotherapy. Across the hospital, the pharmacy team works closely with Supply Chain Management, the Drug Supply Unit, the Antibiotic and Infectious Control Department and the Regulatory and Accreditation Department to ensure patient needs are effectively met.
In terms of specialist services, our department offers clinical pharmacy services, total parenteral nutrition (a means of nutrition for those unable to eat) and chemotherapy preparations. We have also been awarded several Stars of Excellence awards, in addition to awards from Qatar University and College of the North Atlantic Qatar, in recognition of our contribution to, or support of, respective pharmacy programs.
