The Social Services Department at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research has a dedicated team of professionals who work with individuals and families to address personal and social issues that affect their wellbeing. We have wide ranging experience in supporting families through difficult times and helping them to deal with illness, disability and loss. These are issues which can often be overwhelming without the right advice, care and support. The department also plays a key role in conflict resolution and crisis intervention, with high levels of success in this area.
Our department attends to approximately 60 patients a month and works closely with doctors in other clinical departments for effective case management. We also work with administration and finance departments within the hospital. We believe it is very important that patients and their families receive the best possible social care, advice and assistance when they attend the hospital. This can be through interventions such as counseling, psycho-social support or connecting patients and their families with necessary resources and support in the community.
The key services which we provide include:
- Social support
- Financial support
- Psycho-social support
- Spiritual support
- Health education for families and for patients
