The National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) extends a warm welcome to all patients and visitors. This section provides practical guidance to ensure that every stay or visit—whether as an inpatient, outpatient, or guest—is as smooth, comfortable, and safe as possible. These guidelines are designed to support a clean, secure environment and the delivery of high standards of care.

NCCCR’s Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing urgent medical care to patients with cancer-related emergencies.
Emergency Contact Information:
- Emergency Department: (+974) 4439 7178 / 7179 / 7277

Visitor Information
Visitors are an important part of the healing process, and NCCCR welcomes them while maintaining policies that safeguard patient health and safety.
Contacting a Patient
- In person: Visitors should report to the Admitting Department at the hospital’s main entrance, where staff will provide details on the patient’s ward.
- By telephone: Patients can be contacted by phone in their hospital room. Telephone numbers are available from the Admitting Department.
Please note: Medical information cannot be shared over the phone. Only the patient’s primary care physician can provide medical updates, and only to immediate family members.
Visiting a Patient
- Arrival: Visitors should check in at the Patient and Visitor Service help desk in the Admitting Department. It is not necessary to call the ward before visiting.
- Visitor numbers: In general, two to three visitors may visit a patient at one time, though this may vary depending on individual circumstances.
- Children: Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Children under 12 may only visit between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
- Health precautions: Visitors should not come to the hospital if they are unwell, have an active infection, or a communicable disease.
- Prohibited items: Flowers, pets, food, and live plants are not permitted, as they pose a risk to infection control.
- Parking: Complimentary parking is available for all patients and visitors. Reserved spaces for persons with disabilities are located near the main entrance.
- No smoking: In accordance with Qatari law, all HMC facilities are smoke-free zones. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the hospital and on hospital grounds. Offenders may be fined.
Visiting Hours
NCCCR encourages visits from family and friends to support patient recovery. However, in certain cases, visiting hours may be restricted due to the patient’s medical condition.
- Children under 12: Permitted to visit between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm only, and must be accompanied by an adult.
Facilities for Patients and Visitors
- Refreshments: A food stall on the ground floor, near the Outpatient Department reception, offers fruit, drinks, and snacks.
Opening hours: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Overnight stays: NCCCR does not have facilities for overnight visitors.
NCCCR is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-free environment. The cooperation of all patients and visitors in following hospital guidelines is greatly appreciated.
