QRI – A Program Based Approach
Care at Qatar Rehabilitation Center is program based and rehabilitation programs are delivered to promote and enable patient centered care. This program based approach ensures that a patient’s needs and expectations are consistently met throughout their recovery journey.
When fully operational, five main rehabilitation programs will be delivered by the Qatar Rehabilitation Center. These are:
- Stroke Rehabilitation
- Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation
- Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
- Pain Management Rehabilitation
- Pediatric Rehabilitation
Overview of this Program Based Approach to Rehabilitative Care
When fully operational, Qatar Rehabilitation Institute’s patient centered, interdisciplinary approach will be delivered across the Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Musculoskeletal/Pain Management and Pediatric Rehabilitation Programs.
These have been developed for acute care, sub-acute care, day care patients, outpatients as well as those in community based rehabilitation.
Care is delivered in a patient centered, holistic, evidence based way and coordinated across appropriate settings. It includes interdisciplinary involvement of healthcare providers by physicians, nursing and allied health professionals, involving family wherever possible.
This interdisciplinary team consists of all or some of the following clinical and support roles: physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physicians, psychiatrist, if required, nursing service, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, prosthetic/orthotic, recreation/activity specialist, social service, pharmacy, dietician, program manager, rehab coordinator, case manager, special educator, patient family educator, patient and visitor service center representative, patient pathway coordinator as well as coordination with other clinical specialty services when required.
