In Adult Neuro Occupational Therapy Unit, the focus is on achieving as much independence as possible independence in work, leisure and self-care of people with disability. Our gaol is to ensure a better quality of life.
The functional limitations caused by stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and any other weakness of the nervous system (brain and spinal cord) upon a person and his family is severe. The problems are usually physical, intellectual and emotional in nature. These will lead to reduced ability of a person to perform his roles as bread winner, parent, husband etc.
The adult neuro unit in occupational therapy is dedicated in fulfilling HMC’s vision of delivering the safest, most effective and compassionate care for adult and families with various needs through interventions targeting health promotion, remediation, restoration, maintenance, compensation and adaptation, and disability prevention in order to return to his / her previous lifestyle.
Occupational therapy services benefit adults with various diagnoses including but not limited to:- Stroke (Cerebro Vascular Accident)
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Other Neurological Conditions like Guillain Barrie syndrome, Transverse myelitis and meningitis
- Long-term geriatric conditions
- Cancer rehabilitation
Occupational therapy services in the adult unit is provided in the following programs- Inpatient service

- National Center for Cancer Care and Research
Staff in Adult-Neuro unit We have diverse work force that meets the patient demands. There are 18 staff in the adult unit in which four staffs are certified in Neuro Development Therapy and one staff in Lymphedema management for Cancer Rehabilitation. All our staffs are licensed under Supreme Council of Health, Qatar and are also certified under councils from other various countries like United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
