Occupational Therapists in Residential Services focus on achieving health, wellbeing, and participation in life through engagement in occupation thus fulfilling HMC’s vision of delivering the safest, most effective and compassionate care.

Residential Services include: Enaya Specialized Care Center (HBKMC Building #330 &331) and Enaya Continuing Care Center (Muaither 1) – RCC1

The focus is on:
  • Functional and wheelchair mobility training including safety measures appropriate to the resident’s level of function.
  • Teaching compensatory techniques to residents with physical, cognitive and perceptual deficits to maximize their abilities.
  • Maximizing safety through compensatory techniques, environmental modifications, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment.
  • Educating and instructing residents and their caregivers about techniques which improve positioning, reduce the use of restraints, and maintain skin integrity.
  • Educating caregivers on ways to enhance functions of the resident and adopt safe handling.
  • Remediating, or maintaining or facilitating self-care activities.
  • Enhancing instrumental activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, money management and other day-to-day activities.
  • Providing opportunities for engagement in meaningful activities through group therapy focusing on the resident’s skills despite resident’s limitations.
  • Assessing home needs, safety and functional equipment to ensure safe discharge from facility.
  • Facilitation of leisure skills, socialization and community reintegration through outings and a broad range of recreational activities. 
  • Occupational therapy services at residential services benefit adults with various diagnoses and special needs including:
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Spinal cord Injury
  • Stroke
  • Adults with cerebral palsy and other conditions
  • Dementia and other neurological disorders
  • Cancer, burns, amputations, cardiac conditions and other medical conditions
Staff at residential Services:
We have six Occupational Therapists working in Enaya Specialized Care Center and four Occupational Therapists and an Occupational Therapy Assistant working in Residential Care Compound 1.

All staff are licensed under the Qatar Council for Health Professionals, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar.
