The Hamad Trauma Center provides 24-hour availability of dedicated surgeons, physicians and other clinical staff with specialized training in trauma, acute care surgery and critical care medicine. The Level I designation means that the Trauma Center conforms to the highest international standards for trauma care and has all major subspecialties onsite, including neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, emergency medicine, radiology, vascular surgery, maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery. The Center includes a Trauma Resuscitation Unit, a Trauma Intensive Care Unit, a Trauma Surgery Unit and a Trauma Outpatient Clinic. Operating Room personnel are also available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
The Center has been recognized locally and internationally, including by the World Health Organization and by Accreditation Canada International, for its success in advancing the care of severely injured patients.
The Trauma Team is located at Hamad General Hospital. This dedicated team is composed of highly trained surgeons, physicians of various specialties, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare providers, all of whom play an essential role in implementing an integrated care plan that is thoughtfully designed to reduce disability and death from the disease of trauma. Hamad General Hospital’s Trauma Surgery Service leads the team, providing in-house coverage 24-hours a day, seven days a week. As part of the Hamad General Hospital Department of Surgery, these specialists help coordinate patient care across all healthcare disciplines.
