Core services provided by the UCC

The UCC’s comprehensive service portfolio is tailored to meet the urgent medical needs of patients while maintaining a strong emphasis on efficiency, patient safety and quality of care. Its core services include:

  • Telephone Consultations

The UCC provides remote consultations for urgent but non-critical conditions, enabling patients to obtain medical advice and direction without the need to visit healthcare facilities in person. This not only reduces the risk of infectious disease transmission but also lessens the burden on emergency and outpatient departments. Telephone consultations serve as interim support for patients awaiting scheduled appointments, ensuring that their immediate concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Urgent Prescription Renewals and Issuance

For patients who require ongoing medication, timely prescription renewals and the issuance of new prescriptions are essential for maintaining continuity of care. The UCC facilitates rapid access to necessary medications, preventing interruptions in treatment that could otherwise lead to health deterioration or complications.

  • Coordination of Follow-up Referrals

When further evaluation or in-person care is required, the UCC coordinates referrals to outpatient clinics, emergency departments, or primary health care centers (PHCC). This ensures seamless transitions across different levels of care, minimizing delays and confusion for patients while promoting optimal healthcare outcomes.

  • Laboratory and Radiology Review

The UCC reviews and discusses laboratory and radiology results with patients, providing reassurance, escalating care when necessary and facilitating early identification of red flags. By keeping patients informed and involved in their care, the UCC supports shared decision-making and empowers individuals to actively manage their health.

  • Medication Management and Interim Advice

Particularly for patients with chronic diseases, the UCC offers expert guidance on medication management and provides interim advice to address acute or evolving issues. This proactive approach helps prevent disease exacerbations, reduces hospital admissions and supports overall wellness.
