Lead the development of outpatient clinical services for general internal medicine that can complement the existing secondary and tertiary care provided by the sub-specialists within the department of internal medicine.
Analyze the needs and pressure on outpatient services and develop plans to expand practice as appropriate to match the need.
Establish pathways for management of chronic diseases based on best practices.
Lead the outpatient general internal medicine practice to provide high quality patient care, based on continuous improvement of quality of health care delivery.
Establish committees and/or subcommittees to monitor quality of care, patient safety and experience.
Team building and motivation that encourage initiatives aiming at improving quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health care delivery.
Coordinate with the chairman, vice chairs, division chiefs and unit heads for supporting, mentoring and promoting quality, performance, and professional development of physicians.
Lead periodic case presentations and medical grand round activities, as appropriate, in coordination with the vice chair for medical education.
Support the training of residents and fellows assigned to the outpatient clinics by providing mentoring, facilities and morning report activities.
Conduct annual evaluation of the physicians working in the outpatient settings in accordance with departmental and institutional policies.
Other duties may be added with the ultimate aim of providing better health care and improved coordination between the site and the main campus.
