The Department of Pediatrics at Al Wakra Hospital caters to the health of children in the southern neighborhoods of Qatar. The department aims to advance the health of infants and children through innovative medical care, research, training, advocacy and continuing medical education. The Department of Pediatrics at Al Wakra Hospital comprises four main units. - Pediatric Emergency Unit – 23 beds (distribution – triage rooms, examination rooms, resuscitation rooms, procedure rooms, observation and isolation rooms)
- Pediatric Inpatient Unit – 16 general pediatric beds are open, the ward has capacity to provide 52 beds
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – Level II unit, 10 cots are open, the unit has capacity to provide 33 cots
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is not anticipated to open, all PICU services will continue to be provided at Hamad General Hospital. A collapsed child at Al Wakra who requires PICU will be stabilized and transferred to Hamad General Hospital.
