The Diagnostic Imaging Task Force aims to review the recommendations based on a recent review of pediatric diagnostic imaging by SickKids SMEs and to implement recommended changes and monitor the transformation of care within radiology.
The priority areas that have been highlighted by the task force include identifying pediatric champions in each modality, in order to provide extended training and skills development in managing children, creating an MR Safety Committee, and the redesigning of the rooms and waiting areas to allow better privacy for patients and staff. The implementation of specific appointments for children and their families, such as after-school or during school holidays is a priority area as it could improve overcrowding in pediatric radiology.
The task force lead, Dr. Tahiya Ahmed, Consultant Pediatric Radiologist at Hamad General Hospital, is keen to push the priorities outlined by the taskforce in order to position pediatric diagnostic imaging as a model of excellence within Hamad Medical Corporation and the Middle East.
