International best practice suggests that the provision of surgical and anesthetic services for children should be carried out by health care staff with specific training and expertise in this field and in dedicated facilities which are designed in a way that supports family-centred care.
The Paediatric Peri-operative Task Force will deliver this goal through working groups, focused on the following key critical areas:
- Dedicated operating room at Hamad General Hospital for all pediatric cases
- Pediatric anesthesia
- Pediatric sedation
- Pediatric cardiac services
- Pediatric OR and recovery nursing practice and policies
- Pediatric dentistry
The task force is led by Dr. Mansour J. Ali, Chief of Pediatric Peri-Operative Services, and includes leadership from nursing, anesthesia, cardiac, ENT and dental.
