FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Staff Update
Dear Colleagues,
The speed at which we are progressing through the FIFA World Cup is remarkable. With all knockout matches in the round of 16 complete we now have two days without games before the start of the quarter final matches and the countdown to the final on 18 December, Qatar National Day.
As we enter the final stage of the tournament, I am tremendously proud of our efforts so far to provide a wide range of high-quality medical and support services to local and visiting fans, players, and team officials.
Qatar’s hosting of this famous sporting event is receiving high praise from attending fans and international leaders alike, and the services we are delivering as a healthcare sector have an important part to play in this acclaim.
Last week, some of our pediatric patients at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute were visited by a group of former world cup footballers, ‘FIFA Legends’, who came to spend time with the children, their parents and care teams to bring the world cup experience to the QRI. You can watch the video about this inspiring visit in the stories below and see the happiness in the children’s faces as the footballers engaged with them.
As always, thank you for all your hard work and commitment. Whether you are working directly in a FIFA World Cup role or ensuring the ongoing delivery of routine healthcare services to the local population, you are all playing your part in supporting Qatar’s successful hosting of the tournament.
Thank you.
