Dr. Balakrishnan was appointed a Consultant in Anesthesia at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn the UK in September 2008 and served there until June 2015. He specializes in regional anesthesia and ambulatory care. Dr. Balakrishnan served in a number of management roles including, Clinical Governance Lead for the Department and Chief Clinical Audit Lead for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn. Currently, Dr. Balakrishnan serves as a Senior Consultant in Anesthesia at Hamad Medical Corporation, and is currently the Section Head of Anesthesia for Rumailah Hospital and NCCCR.
