Doha, 5 September 2024: Al Negwa Academy, part of the Training and Development Section at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), organized a cybersecurity awareness workshop on Sunday 1 September in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency. The workshop aimed to educate HMC employees on the importance of cybersecurity in protecting highly sensitive data and information, particularly within the healthcare sector.
Ms. Sherifa Al Kubaisi, Director of Al Negwa Academy, explained that the primary objective of the workshop was to raise cybersecurity awareness and educate participants on effective strategies for protecting health information and patient data, ensuring compliance with both local and international regulations. The workshop also aimed to equip employees with the knowledge needed to identify common cyber threats and address them before they could affect operational systems. Additionally, participants were trained in the latest tools and methods for managing cyberattacks, implementing preventive measures and ensuring that they can handle cyber risks without compromising the continuity of safe healthcare delivery. The workshop also covered the HMC's cybersecurity policies and how to effectively implement them in daily operations.
The workshop was delivered by Mr. Jamal Al Yafei, a lecturer from the National Cyber Security Agency, and was held at Al Negwa Academy. Thirty employees from the Human Resources, Public Relations and Health Information and Communication Technology Departments at HMC attended the event.
