Disadvantages of Smoking

  • It is noticed that wrinkles occur more and early on in smokers.
  • Smoking also leads to chronic weakness and atrophy of the skin, due to the contraction of the arteries nourishing the skin, and thus lack of access of necessary oxygen for the skin which is essential for skin growth and vitality.
  • Cigarette smoke leads to activation of enzyme that breaks down proteins that maintain the cohesion of the skin and skin elasticity, and this in turn leads to wrinkled skin and an older appearance. Skin loses its vitality and natural color, which changes to oblique yellow or gray as a result of the destructive action of these enzymes on the skin.
